Ordinance # 05-01


Town Speed Control Regulations

Section #1:  No person shall drive a vehicle on any way in the Town of Rollinsford, New Hampshire, at a speed greater that is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual potential hazards then existing.  In every event, speed shall be controlled as may be necessary to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle, or other converyance on or entering the way in compliance with legal reguirements and the duty of all persons to use due care.

Section #2:  Under the provisions of NH RSA 159:118, the speed limit of 30 miles per hour is established for the following roads in the Town of Rollinsford.

Beccaris Drive, Berwick Street, Church Street, Clement Road, Cottage Lane, Crickett Lane, Cross Street, Doherty Lane, Foundry Street, Fourth Street, Franklin Street, Front Street, General John Sullivan Way, Gilman Street, Hall Street, Highland Avenue, Heritage Drive, Jesse Doe Road, Kelwyn Drive, Locust Street, Lower Mill Road, Moses Carr Road, Oak Street, Old Mill Lane, Partridge Lane, Pinch Hill Road, Pine Street, Pinecrest Lane, Prospect Street, River Road, Second Street, Silver Lane, Sligo Road, South Street, Stockdale Circle, Third Street, Washington Street, Water Street, Watson Lane, Willey Street, Woodland Drive, Woods Run.

Section #3:  Under the provisions of NH RSA 259:93, the speed limit of 35 miles per hour is established for the following roads in the Town of Rollinsford.

Bear Road

Section #4:  When signs are posted, it shall be unlawful for any person to drive in excess of 20 miles per hour in the posted school zone on Willey Street.

Section #5:  Violations of the above ordinance shall be reported to the Dover District Court, on the Uniform Traffic Complaint issued by the State of New Hampshire.  Accordingly, the fine schedule shall be the same as published on the Uniform Traffic Complaint.

Section #6:  Enforcement of the above ordinance shall be under the provisions of the NH RSA 265:60.

Section #7:  When town roads are not posted, the provisions of NH RSA 265:690 which defines basic ruiles and sets maixmum speed limits shall prevail.
